Speak Up is Saturday, Feb 23 Lehman College

The theme of Speak Up 2013 is History, Parks & Culture: Using Open Spaces to Bridge Cultural Gaps

The day will feature presentations:

  • Creating Bronx Parks: a Historic Anniversary Presentation
  • Discovering the Bronx River’s African-American Heritage

The afternoon will offer three interactive, hands-on workshops:

  • The History of Hip-Hop in Bronx Parks
  • Identifying New Open Spaces & Uses
  • The Bronx as an Urban Forest: Past, Present & Future

Two informative and important Panel Discussions will take place:

  • Mayoral Candidates Forum: The Future of Bronx Parks
  • Building Understanding Around Cultural Differences

Join hundreds of park advocates, employees, elected officials and volunteer groups in learning about opportunities and resources for improving Bronx Green Spaces!
