19th ANNUAL BRONX PARKS SPEAK UP

PLACE: Lehman College, Faculty Dining Rm (Bx10 or Bx26 bus, D or 4 train to Bedford Pk. Blvd.)
The theme of Speak Up 2013 is History, Parks & Culture: Using Open Spaces to Bridge Cultural Gaps
The day will feature presentations:
- Creating Bronx Parks: a Historic Anniversary Presentation
- Discovering the Bronx River’s African-American Heritage
The afternoon will offer three interactive, hands-on workshops:
- The History of Hip-Hop in Bronx Parks
- Identifying New Open Spaces & Uses
- The Bronx as an Urban Forest: Past, Present & Future
Two informative and important Panel Discussions will take place:
- Mayoral Candidates Forum: The Future of Bronx Parks
- Building Understanding Around Cultural Differences
Join hundreds of park advocates, employees, elected officials and volunteer groups in learning about opportunities and resources for improving Bronx Green Spaces! Speak Up 2013 is a great place for individuals and groups to network and find out what the community is doing (and what still needs to be done!) to Bridge the Cultural Gaps in Open Spaces.
