$2000 “affordable” apartments on Orloff Avenue?

Check  out this ad from a recent edition of the NY Daily News.

The managers of the HDC-subsidized building at 3880 Orloff are now trying to get $2000 for their “affordable” two-bedrooms, which are described here as “in the Heart of Riverdale.”

Sorry– we’re proud residents of Van Cortlandt Village– but this is NOT the heart of Riverdale.

And we ask and will continue to ask: WHY is the City subsidizing $2000 apartments for families making $192,000Рin the Bronx?

Guess what? You can buy a whole house for this kind of money.

One response to “$2000 “affordable” apartments on Orloff Avenue?”

To the best of our knowledge, this building has had to offer free TVs to get people to sign leases at $1500 — why are they now offering apartments for $2000? I suspect this is an attempt to re-define “market rents.” Let’s all remember — market rent is what landlords and tenants are willing to sign leases at, not the wishful thinking of landlords with empty apartments.
