Hello neighbors,
I have just received the excellent news that FIPNA won the $2500 matching grant from the National Trust for Historic Places. We are planning to use this money to hire a historic consultant who will do a complete historic survey of our community– a narrative of the area’s history and an inventory of our existing historic resources. The history survey has been requested by SHPO (the State HIstoric Office) and is a key preservation tool. Our eventual goal is put the neighborhood on the National Register of Historic Places.
We are hoping to hold a neighborhood meeting with our historic consultant, Tony Robins, in the coming weeks. The Historic Districts Council of New York City has agreed to act as our fiscal conduit.
As I mentioned, this is a matching grant, which means we will need to raise $2500 quickly. Many thanks to all who have already given or promised contributions, including many of our neighbors as well as Assemblyman Dinowitz. We have about half of the $2500.
If you can contribute, now is the time!
