Storm hits Sedgwick trees

While a lot of us found Hurricane Irene not as bad as we feared — thankfully — the storm did bring some serious damage to our neighborhood. The beautiful old pin oaks on Sedgwick Avenue, and some trees that were parked near them, appear to have borne the brunt of the storm. Christopher Benjamin, who isĀ  a 3363 Sedgwick Avenue co-op resident and board member, took these photos on Sunday around 12:30 p.m.

The trees fell between 4 and 5 o’clock, we’re told, and at least one blocked the street, as seen below.

Several cars were seriously damaged.

And even a lamppost took a hit.

Our sympathies go to the owner of this and the other cars damaged.

And our gratitude to the pin oaks which have made our neighborhood so beautiful for so many years.
