Today (April 19) the DOT spent most of the day on Cannon Place placing concrete barriers along the retaining wall side of the street. They said it was preliminary to taking steps to repair/shore up the wall and repair the sidewalk, and indicated that they want the sidewalk completely closed until repairs are made.
Cannon Place was closed to traffic for much of the day to facility the installation of these barrier.
We are hoping that the wall will be nicely restored and not replaced with an ugly concrete slab, as it is a historic wall.
Another issue is that the temporary concrete slabs themselves are covered with graffiti, we hope DOT will at least paint them.
