Subject: FW: Croton Filter Project – Jerome Park Reservoir Construction
March 20, 2009
Dear FIPNA,
Here is an update on upcoming construction.
Contractors working on the Croton Filter Project construction at Jerome Park Reservoir will begin hoe ramming to excavate rock for the shaft and meter chamber in Harris Park Annex during the week of March 23rd. This will be daytime work. A noise barrier that encircles the excavation area will help control the equipment’s noise.
If you have a question or comment, you may wish call 311. Alternately, please call DEP’s Community Office at (718) 231-8470. You can contact me about the project as well.
Thank you,
Martha Holstein

What if we have compliments and praise? Who do we call then? I think that the Contractor is doing a great job. I was out at the site a few days ago, while they were hoe-ramming, and it was really quiet! Have a good day.
Just to set the record straight, that is not me. However, I did hear that they did not make much noise. In fact, we were waiting for them to start and they already worked for a week (according to the Acting Commissioner of the NYC DEP).

I hear that the DEP will allow the contractor to remove soil this week after hours, that is after 7 pm until 11 pm. Keep an eye out. Next meeting of the FMC is April 30, place to be confirmed, but it may be Scott Tower (3400 Paul Ave).
