Day 170 – As you already know Helen Sieger has been arrested because she allegedly committed a felony by not providing workers’ compensation to her employees for over a year. You can see the official press release on the Attorney Generals’ website here: ATTORNEY GENERAL CUOMO ANNOUNCES ARREST OF NURSING HOME CEO
I must thank the Riverdale Press and Nick Judd for getting the news out so quickly after they were informed of the news, you can see their article here: Kingsbridge Heights nursing home owner arrested
I was told that before all this happened that Jacob put his resignation in for August 4 and also a nursing director resigned as well. It is my understanding that both of them were told to report back to work by the AG while the investigation is still pending.
From sources close to the happenings, there is rumors that there are 4 total indictments that will be carried out. I don’t want to give specifics as the investigations are still pending.
I would be worried if I was anyone involved with wrong doing inside the nursing home. I am pretty sure that Helen will not take the fall for everyone and in the not too distant future we may even see more arrests.
We have been yelling about this for close to six months now and nobody would listen, it took all the power of 1199, our Elected Officials, FIPNA, COSA and many others to finally get this whole situation brought to light. I only hope that the Department of Health did their proper inspections and did not succumb to Helen’s greedy ways. According to records that we (FIPNA) acquired from the DOH under Freedom of Information, DOH claims that the nursing home has been and is currently in compliance across the board.
All the striking members as you can imagine are full of exuberance, most of the members were at a rally at Madison Square Garden supporting other union members but I am sure they will all be back strong tomorrow.
The last piece of this puzzle should fall into place on Monday when hopefully the NLRB issues the injunction to allow all the striking members to return to their jobs. I will keep you all posted on any new updates that happen, stay strong as this battle is not completely won!
In solidarity, STAND STRONG!
