Strike Update Day 144 & 145 – (7/12/2008 – 7/13/2008)

Day 144 & 145 – This is my usual weekend wrap-up of happenings on the strike line at Kingsbridge Heights Rehabilitation & Care Center. For those of you who haven’t been following along, this is day 145 of an unfair labor practices strike. Helen Sieger decided that she no longer wanted to pay health care benefits to over 220 union workers at the facility, so on February 20, 2008 the union members walked off the job and started a picket line.

You would think that after 145 days of this, something would have been done to put these workers back to work. As of yet there is no negotiations or any government intervention. The only current hope is the eviction proceeding that Helen Sieger’s family has won and currently waiting for the 30 day period before removing her from said premises.

I am shocked how long this strike has gone on for, along with how no single agency has done anything in it’s power to end it. The Department of Health has turned there head many times as it appears they don’t want to be in the middle of a labor dispute. We (FIPNA) are still waiting for the FOIL information that we requested from them and up to this point they still have not delivered anything to us. We are pursuing other means of acquiring said information currently.

The strike line was calm over the weekend, the weather was hot and Mr. Softee made a stop for the striking members once again. I believe the members realize that they are there for a show of support more than resolving this dispute as you can’t resolve a dispute when one party refuses to even negotiate. To the insiders this doesn’t mean they want to negotiate with Helen, that has long since past and the only solution now is to replace Helen which will be forthcoming soon enough.

The only thing I found interesting this weekend is the fact that we have not had a police presence here for sometime, all of a sudden Saturday night and Sunday we have police. Is it because there is nothing to do elsewhere in the precinct or is it an overtime thing?

Funny how the officer on duty on Sunday finds it okay to park in Helen’s driveway right next to her car, since when does the police get to park on private property? Is it even right to do such a thing? Doesn’t it look like maybe there is some favoritism going on?

Maybe it is just me, but if you are supposed to be impartial why would you choose to cross the picket line?

Also since the police are here, there are still cars parked on the street at night but yet no tickets have been issued. Maybe I will park my car on the street again and see if I get a ticket, then we shall see what the Captain has to say.

Till Tomorrow, STAND STRONG!

Mon Dieu, mon Capitan, I certainmont hope you are getting all this overtime m-o-n-e-y from HELLen for guarding her personal car.nes pa? You are to be, how you say, congratulations for turning your back on the community at large. You and your “runaway command”are a fine example of how to agitate, instigate aggravate, manipulate and escalate problems in a community, during a strike. You should hang your head in shame. You are supposed to be impartial and not take sides, but since the very beginning you have sided with HELLen… MAIS POR QUOI?? BUT WHY?? I deduce that somebody’s pockets must have been lined very well, the Pink Panther and Inspector Clousseau are never wrong! After all, what other reason could there be for allowing such blatant illegal activities to continue for 145 day?? Everything has been documented, over and over again, yet absolutmont, you allow it to happen, every day, since day one of the strike until this day, day 145. MAIS PORQUOI?? BUT WHY?? Everybody should take back their street and the HELLen with this ”CAPITAN D”ADAMO and his RUNAWAY COMMAND”
