Day 113 – Today the members are looking refreshed after yesterday’s water fun. The temperature is still in the 80’s but it is nicer to be outside today.
To start the day off I was across the street speaking with a journalist from Poland who was here to gather information about the strike to write a story about in his paper. I was very impressed with the questions he asked and also thought he had a good grasp on what is really going on here.
While I was in the pen across the street I happed to hear someone sweeping in the nursing home driveway, I couldn’t believe that I saw Tony one of the Directors sweeping!
Another thing I noticed is that one of the cars in the nursing home driveway have Pennsylvania plates, why is that? The owner of the vehicle lives right here in our neighborhood. I blurred the plate number on purpose, but you can tell the colors of the plate are not NY plates.
I heard from a striking member that one of the residents wanted to come outside and they were not allowed at first. Later in the day the resident joined the member and was telling her that she was hungry and the food is awful inside. Why do we hear from many residents that they are hungry?
Most of the day I wasn’t around, but I was told that the day was a nice quiet one and nothing out of the ordinary happened.
I was told that tonight at around 8 o’clock Helen decided to leave the building and that she had a police car come up and escort her to her cab? What is going on here? Did someone threaten her? Does she now require 24 hour protection? Oh wait she has that already with the 24 x 7 police coverage here, not too mention all the private security she has hired.
This is all amazing to me that one woman can cause all this disruption and still have people at her beck and call.
Till tomorrow, STAND STRONG!
