Day 106 – I was surprised today to find the front of my house decorated with balloons and a big sign that said Happy Birthday Phil, now I know this doesn’t have anything to do with the strike but I just wanted to thank Lynn, Judy & Karen for their handy work. Since it is my blog I get to self promote a little no?
Since I am on the subject of signs, I couldn’t help but notice the big sign the union has hanging in one of the pens.
And of course the other ‘Wanted’ poster of Helen herself.
It appears that anyone can print a sign and put it on their dashboard that says “Doctor on call” and then park illegally all day.
This car belongs to a doctor as stated by the MD plates, but does that make him above the law?
There is plenty of room in the parking lot, but then again maybe he is worried that a delivery truck will smash his car. I don’t understand why all these people think that they can just park at will and not face punishment? I don’t understand why Helen doesn’t tell them to park in her parking lot that she fought so hard to build and while doing so destroyed the beauty of the front of the nursing home.
Another interesting car pulled up today and the driver went inside the nursing home, we thought he was going to be picking up Helen but instead he came out alone.
A few minutes later you can see one of the workers come out and hand something to the driver. Who knows what this was all about?
You can see nothing has changed since yesterday, the guards are still doing much of nothing, one is even smiling for the camera.
Again this evening there were 3 police cars and an ambulance in front of the nursing home. No one came out in the ambulance nor the police cars.
Last thing that I would like to say, once again for the record. I do not get paid to do this, not from the union, not from the community, not from anyone! I do find it funny how people can assume things just because you pick a side and take a stand. I will not waiver from my point of view that the union is right and Helen is wrong! I will however put as much energy as possible into helping the union succeed in their victory, which will be so sweet when it happens and it will happen!
Till tomorrow, STAND STRONG!
