Day 105 – The strike line has been calm this past week as a lot of members and delegates have been attending an SEIU Convention in Puerto Rico – May 31-June 4. The members who are still on the line have been keeping up the pressure except now they are chanting “What do we want? Helen OUT!”
It must be frustrating to be out on the line for 105 days but the members seem to be holding tight and refuse to give up. They do find ways to entertain themselves while on the line, you can see below that they are line dancing to the “electric slide”.
I was happy to see that “The Mayor” is back and walking around, I didn’t know what had happened to him since the last time I saw him was several weeks ago and he was in a wheelchair.
While I was outside taking pictures I noticed a window open with a curtain blowing out, is this really a safe idea to have a residents window open this much? I realize it was a nice hot day, but it seems to me that a window should not be open wide enough to allow a curtain to be flapping about.
As for taking pictures, remember yesterday that the security guard told me I was not allowed to take pictures? My question to them and Helen is what do they do all day? What are you paying them for? All they do is stand around with their hands in their pockets as seen below.
Not to mention the “undercover” security that sits up the block running their engine all day in the driveway. Do you see them too Helen? You can see one feeding the birds while the other is in the running car reading the paper or sleeping. They don’t even walk down the block or intervene when you need them.
Remember the egg throwing scab? Well today she thinks that it is ok for her to take pictures of the striking members. The NLRB ruling doesn’t only hold true for Helen but for all her employees as well. Maybe you should let her know this.
Surprise! You didn’t see me taking your picture did you?
I was able to get a copy of the memo that was hung up in the nursing home.
I find it funny how Helen thinks that the very same people she worked with for many years have now turned into some violent group.
Here is a little story that will show you how bad 1199 and the striking members really are. Everyday the union feeds all the strikers that come to the line, if you are a member and come to the line you can eat three meals a day if you happen to be here at all meal times. What is different is that I found out today that the union has been feeding a less than fortunate family that lives down the street. The family has come into hard times and can barely afford to live. One day the husband was passing by and asked if they had extra food, ever since the union has been giving the family any extra meals they have left over from lunch or dinner. Now is this something that violent, vulgar, inconsiderate people would do?
Yesterday I showed you Martin speaking to the striking members. First of all he is ignoring Helen’s memo above, maybe Helen should reprimand him. If you remember when Martin(mr. scab) first came to the blog he had a lot of disparaging things to say about the members and he said the members had bad things to say about him as well. So for the last two days I have been carefully listening to what the members have been saying to him and not once did any type of ethnic or religious slur come out of their mouth. I won’t say they didn’t have some colorful words for him, but not anything close to what he has claimed they have said.
Lastly, today I received a response to my not guilty plea in regards to the parking ticket I received the time my car was parked across the street before signs were posted stating the no parking rule. Well all I can say is I am so furious that the judge thinks that I should pay a fine of $115.00 for a ticket that should not have been written. If you remember the incident involved an accident that was caused by officer Vanputten parking his car in a precarious position in the street making it impossible for the Access-A-Ride bus to pass without the accident that ensued. I am not through fighting this ticket and now I am going to show that officer Vanputten lied on the accident report as he stated there were no independent witnesses to the accident. No INDEPENDENT witnesses? What about the 20-30 striking members that saw it and rang my bell to tell me about it? This fight is not over yet.
Till tomorrow, STAND STRONG!
