Community Residential Burglary Alert

We were advised today at the community council meeting at the 50th precinct that there has been an increase in burglaries around the Giles Place / Sedgwick Avenue areas and south. Most of these have been perpetrated after the residents have left for work. The perpetrators are using either a crowbar or something else to jimmy the lock of the front door open.

Please take a few minutes before leaving for work and make sure all your windows and doors are locked. If you have a deadbolt make sure you are using it.

The 50th precinct offers free security surveys for your home, if you would like a survey please contact the Community Affairs office of the 50th precinct at 718-543-5978 to schedule an appointment.
