Day 74 – RALLY DAY!
What a rally it was… There were more people than you could possibly imagine. History was made today as you will never see that many people on Giles Place or Cannon Place again, unless of course there is another rally. Let’s just hope that there is not going to be a need for another rally and that these workers can get back to work.
Since it was rally day there is not much to post here except for the pictures of the rally. Please enjoy these pictures and I will have a video available soon.

Till tomorrow, STAND STRONG!

what was accomplished by this rally and the last rally?
What a day it was. I was there not as an 1199 member, but a supporter.
The rally started with uncertain weather, but spirits were high. There were more people present than I would have imagined. God bless those who showed up from all over the city to show solidarity.
The march could not have been seen as anything less than a total success. Those who marched showed their respect for the community, keeping the sidewalks clear for the neighborhood, and basically keeping in line and being peaceful.
As the day progressed the sun came out as the post-march rally came to a close. I think this was a good sign.
Keep up the good fight and if there should be another rally I hope those who participate will respect the neighborhood, and by all means keep it clean. Don’t leave any trace that you were there, pick up after yourselves, and keep the neighborhood on your side. You need all the help you can get at this time. Pray for the workers as they continue their strike, which we hope will end soon with a negotiated settlement.
To answer the question “what was accomplished by this rally and the last rally?”
If you took a look around you would see all the support that the striking members had. The amount of people and the political power that was there was unprecedented. If you think that it doesn’t mean anything you are sorely mistaken. Things are moving along now and everyone is looking at Kingsbridge.
Just look who attended this rally:
3000-4000 people: Striking Members of 1199, Members of 1199, and the Fort Independence Park Community
Andy Stern, President of SEIU 1199
Dennis Rivera, Chair of SEIU Healthcare, former President of SEIU 1199
United States Senator Charles Schumer
New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn
Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer
United States Congressman Anthony Weiner
New York State Senators: Eric Schneiderman, and Efrain Gonzalez
New York State Assembly Members: Aurelia Greene, Jose Rivera, Naomi Rivera, Ruben Diaz, Michael Benedetto, and Jeffrey Dinowitz
Fort Independence Park Neighborhood Association
Benjamin Franklin Reform Democratic Club
Community Organization Striker Alliance
To employee,
I have one question for you, where was Helen’s supporters? All I saw was many people saying “Helen Sieger has to go!”
HEY MARTIN AKA MR SCAB AKA YOU SEE ME EVERYDAY AKA JMAN AKA NAKIBA AKA EMPLOYEE….I THOUGHT YOU RETIRED???YOU JUST CAN’T RESIST BEING MR. NEGATIVITY….I’D LOVE TO SEE HOW MANY PEOPLE WOULD SHOW UP FOR YOU AND YOUR SCABS…IT’S JUST A MATTER OF TIME NOW……WE’VE COME SO FAR AND VICTORY IS WITHIN OUR GRASP…..AND THE HOUSE OF HELEN WILL COME TUMBLING DOWN……
WHAT AN AWESOME DAY……I JUST CAN’T BELIEVE ALL THE PEOPLE, UNION MEMBERS,ORGANIZATION MEMBERS,ELECTED OFFICIALS AND THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE……WHAT AN IMPRESSIVE SHOW OF SUPPORT FOR THE 1199 SEIU STRIKING MEMBERS…….AND ALL THE MEDIA COVERAGE…..TV AND NEWSPAPERS…JUST WHAT WAS NEEDED…NOW EVERYONE IS LOOKING AT KHRCC…….WHO OF COURSE HAD NO COMMENT ON CAMERA, EXCEPT FOR JACOB SPEWING NONSENSE,OFF CAMERA,JUST FURTHER PROVING THAT” THERE’S SOMETHING ROTTEN IN KINGSBRIDGE”……
I forgot to mention the media! Thanks Former FIPNA Pres! Ok, as far as we could tell, we had TV News Channels: 2, 4, 5, 7, 12, and the Riverdale Press. But there was sooooooo many people supporting the strikers that it was hard to tell who all the photographers were. We have never seen such a large group of people on Giles and Cannon Places!!!!! Way to go 1199 SEIU!!!!
Man o man the day was rockin. I can’t believe all the people who showed up.It was OUTRAGEOUS that everybody showed up to support my brothers and sisters on the line.Everybody walking together side by side in UNITY and SOLIDARITY or as some of my brothers on the line say ‘SOLIDARNOSC’
WHAT AN ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIC DAY.I DON’T THINK I’VE EVER SEEN THAT MANY PEOPLE IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD AS LONG AS I’VE LIVED HERE.IT WAS A TRULY MIND BOGGLING AWESOME SIGHT.IT SEEMED LIKE THE LINES OF PEOPLE WERE NEVER GOING TO END.IT’S JUST AMAZING THAT ALL THOSE PEOPLE TURNED OUT IN SUPPORT OF THE STRIKERS.I AM SO GLAD I COULD BE A PART OF IT.
What a great rally!!! It was so good to see so many people turn out in support of the strikers and their fight for a fair contract and health care benefits. It was great to see all the elected officials that showed up. Now everyone will be taking a real good look at what’s going on in the nursing home. It’s such a shame that this has gone on so long. What is the person or persons running the nursing home thinking? Or are they? It’s such a shame that Rose and Arno Boritzer ever sold the place. They were such good, kind and caring people and would have never let anything like this happen. Which kind of makes me wonder all the more, do the people running the nursing home know what they are doing?
HEY!!!! HEY!!!!HO!!!!HO!!!!HELEN SIEGER GOT TO GO !!!!!!
GOOD JOB PHIL WE NA GIVE UP.
