Day 49 – Just for the record I need to post these pictures of cars parking on the street without facing any penalties. Since I am fighting the ticket I received from officer Vanputten I want to have as much proof as possible that the PD is doing selective enforcement.
Today is day 49, DAY49! What is going on here? Where is the justice? Why is no one forcing negotiations here?
You can see a hired security guard below that is being not too friendly to the striking workers. These security guards should just do their job and not interact with the strikers. They need to understand that they are considered scabs as well because even though they are security, they are still crossing a picket line to get to work.
I read a story today about the issues that an upstate nursing home is facing, the issues are so similar to what is going on here. You can read the story “Montgomery nursing home workers picket” on the recordonline.com website. To me it appears that other nursing home owners are watching the Kingsbridge strike to see what happens so they can follow the same path.
This evening the police wrote a summons to Anthony, one of the strike organizers. They claim he was violating the sound law for beeping his horn. It amazes me that it is ok for everyone to go by and acknowledge the striking workers by tooting their horn but if an 1199 member does it, they get a summons. I wonder if they would issue themselves a summons for the unnecessary noise they made during our candle light vigil? See the video clip below to get a full understanding of what they did without reason.
Tonight officer Vanputten returned and of course did not issue any tickets for the so called illegally parked cars. Why?
Did Helen leave? There was a cab that pulled into the nursing home driveway and was surrounded by all the security guards, perhaps to usher Helen out of the building? Maybe she needed to go get some dinner.
We are working on an action letter, it will be posted here tomorrow. We want all community residents to call on our Assembly Member – Naomi Rivera to find out what they are doing to be sure the residents of the nursing home are being properly cared for. Please check back tomorrow to see the alert and if you live in the neighborhood check your mailbox.
Till tomorrow, STAND STRONG!
