Day 39 – First up today is an alleged altercation between a union member and one of the nursing homes hired security guards. The story is that one of the striking members objected to the security guard ushering replacement workers through the court yard of a building down the block. I assume the reason they are doing this is that they can take the “Scabs” to the bus stop on Sedgwick Avenue without having to pass the strike line by going up Cannon. This is all fine and good if they want to walk the “Scabs” down to 238th street and then up the hill to the bus stop, but as far as I know it is illegal to walk through the private court yards of the building. This is the stand the building took as well since as of today they now have posted signs saying “No Trespassing”.
Not only can you be prosecuted for entering these court yards but if the security guard actually shoved the union member as was alleged then he too can face assault charges. Just remember there are always many eyes watching what is happening in this neighborhood.
Cannon Heights residents are still throwing stuff off the terraces at the striking workers. This is not going to solve anything, do you really think they are going to leave because you are throwing eggs, water, etc. at them? They are fighting for their rights and they need to make noise. Just remember if you are caught throwing anything from the building you are going to be arrested, this is straight from the police department.
As I stated in yesterdays post Helen Sieger is not a good neighborhood citizen. Here are more shots of another property that she has in our once beautiful community.
Once again, is this the way a good neighbor behaves? Leaving garbage piled up everywhere, broken glass, open windows and doors? This is a tragedy waiting to happen for our neighborhood kids. Helen why don’t you clean up your mess.
Till tomorrow, STAND STRONG!
