Day 31 – Today was a pretty quite day on all fronts, we had a peaceful night of sleep with no generator noise and we woke to the union members singing for us. I am hoping to capture some video of their singing next time they are out there performing for us. It is very beautiful that on a Good Friday they would entertain us with such talent.
You can tell the PD is not even to disturbed by the strike anymore as they seem to be fully entertained with the newspaper instead of watching the strikers.
This afternoon things got a little hotter for the nursing home, I am not sure if I posted the alternative lights that they installed on their building to light the sidewalk and street. Basically they bought a bunch of wall mounted halogen lights and ran extension cords through the windows to light them. Well today, just 1 day after they finished installing these fixtures the Department of Health came and cut all those wires to make these lamps inoperable. The only reason I can assume is because you cannot have extension cords running through residents windows and plug them in their room. Do I really need to give you the many reasons why?
So because of this turn of events the nursing home decided that it would be ok to turn on the remaining two generators again. Of course they are still breaking the law, with a reading of 82db across the street it is still far above the 69-70db that is allowed.
So of course DEP will be back to issue more violations and the nursing home is back to square one trying to figure out how to light the street without getting into trouble. For the life of me I don’t know what Helen is so scared of that she needs all this light? Is she afraid of the dark? Is she scared that the church song singing strikers are going to get her? What is it Helen? Why do you insist on spending so much money to light the street but yet you won’t pay for health care benefits?
Lets see what tomorrow brings!
Till tomorrow, STAND STRONG!
