Day 21 and still standing strong. Another effigy was made of Helen Sieger the owner of Kingsbridge Heights.
The neighborhood association went to a meeting with the board from Cannon Heights to discuss the strike issue and its impact on the neighborhood. We were joined by a union representative along with a worker that is on the strike line daily, also in attendance were some of the cooperators from the building a Anthony Cassino from Community Board 8. We discussed the strike situation and also the generator issue that we as a community are faced with. The board is in agreement with us that these generators need to be shut down, they have also had their lawyer write the nursing home a letter to stop these generators or point the lights away from the building. Nothing has been done to this date by any agency to alleviate this horrendous noise, light and health issue.
To give you an example, I personally purchased a decibel meter and took readings tonight as follows:
10 feet from generators – 87db
50 feet from generators – 82db
Top of street – 74db
Inside my bedroom – 62db (windows closed)
Now remember I have filed many DEP noise complaints and they have only issue ONE violation so far, they have not issued a violation for every 24 hours in non-compliance nor have they issued a cease and desist order, all of which could end this nightmare that the residents of this community are living with nightly because of one person.
Till tomorrow, STAND STRONG!
