I can’t believe it is day 20! Almost three weeks on the picket line for these workers and no negotiations are even taking place. I am glad the strikers are still standing strong! I know it gets hard at times but in unity there is strength and together you will succeed.
Today I could not believe that the lights the nursing home installed are visible from about 1/2 mile away. Here are two pictures from 234th street and Kingsbridge Avenue, the big bright spot in the distance is the nursing home! Amazing isn’t it?
Here is what it looks like up the block from the nursing home…
And here is what it looks like when you turn onto Cannon Place, this is actually a very dangerous situation since the lights blind you when you first make the turn onto Cannon Place.
I received a comment on yesterdays post that follows:
WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL THE SIGNS?? WHERE ARE ALL THE FLAGS?? WHY IS EVERYONE SQUEEZED INTO SUCH A SMALL AREA?? IT KIND OF RESEMBLES COW CORRALS THAT YOU SEE ON THE FARMS UPSTATE. WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS? THE POLICE DEPARTMENT? I DON’T REMEMBER THEM BEING CORRALED LIKE THIS WHEN THEY WERE ON STRIKE.. WHERE IS THE A.C.L.U.?????????
To answer this comment, the picket signs, flags, etc have all been removed by the police department. The strikers were told to remove all signs from the metal barricades as the barricades are NYPD property. Apparently this corralling is a NYC thing, whenever there is a strike they now setup the metal barricades. Like you said, I am sure that the PD didn’t have any such thing when they were on strike, by then again I thought they weren’t supposed to be allowed to strike anyway?!
Till tomorrow, STAND STRONG!
