Strike Update Day 17 – (3/7/2008)

Day 17 and still no negotiation has been taking place. It amazes me that one person can hold the key to ending this strike, the owner of Kingsbridge Heights could easily put an end to all of this so that the workers can get back to work and the neighborhood could get back to life as usual. Helen if you are reading this please do the right thing and sign a fair contract and let your workers get back to work!

The rain has come again and doesn’t look like it will let up till Sunday. It is such a shame that the police thought it was necessary to remove the canopy and table from the strikers but yet they don’t think it is necessary to remove the generators that are clearly on city property and clearly breaking the law.

Check out this great video that the 1199 SEIU created on the front lines of the strike.

Till tomorrow, STAND STRONG!

I CAN’T BELIEVE WHAT I SEE ON THE ABOVE VIDEO. WHERE DID THE GESTAPO SECURITY GUARD COME FROM ? IF THEY HAVE ALL THEIR OWN SECURITY WHY IS THE NYPD STILL LEAVING ALL THAT MANPOWER ON THE SITE? WHO’S PAYING FOR ALL THIS? AND WHERE ARE THE POLICE ANYWAY? IN ALL THE PICTURES AND VIDEOS I HAVEN’T SEEN ONE POLICE OFFICER. WHERE ARE THEY? AS USUAL SITTING IN THEIR WARM, DRY CARS WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING POLLUTING THE AIR? WHAT A WASTE OF TAXPAYER MONEY!!
